Volunteers, Vendors Needed For The Always-Popular Citizens Day In The Park In St. Helens

Citizens Day in the Park, a day to forget about your techy devices and meet your neighbors, is always in need of volunteers and vendors.

Such is the case this year in St. Helens, as the city is opening its 2024 vendor application process, with preapplication required to host a booth at the event.

This year’s Citizens Day is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at McCormick Park.

The annual event, hosted by the St. Helens City Council, is always popular, with over 1,000 attendees last year. The city last year partnered with about 50 vendors.

According to the city, preapplication is required to host a booth at the event. Space is limited, and vendors are encouraged to apply for a spot early. There is no vendor fee and concession fees are being waived for Citizens Day.

In an effort to promote community resources, preference for space is being given to local nonprofits and businesses with the idea that each booth is asked to host a no-cost, family-friendly activity.

The city is asking for volunteers to help with setting up and cleaning up. Volunteers can also help serve food.

A free barbecue lunch is offered each year and there’s live music and lawn games, as well.

Citizen’s Day in the Park was first hosted in 2017 and was created by the St. Helens City Council to let people enjoy the largest park in the city.
