On 8/29/19, at approx. 1:19 a.m., Ofc Burghardt attempted to stop a Nissan Pathfinder on the exit 53 on-ramp for motor vehicle violations. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle that had run from him on 8/21/19 and the license plate did not match the vehicle. This vehicle once again failed to stop and increased his speed in an attempt to elude the Officer.

The vehicle struck a telephone pole after losing control on the I95 Exit 53 on-ramp. The operator, 36-year oldĀ Adam G. Osoria of New Haven, jumped from the vehicle and ran into the heavy wooded area along the side of the highway on ramp. Officer Burghardt with the assistance of Sgt. Carney and K9 Arrow, located Osoria submerged in a small marsh area. After a brief struggle, Osoria was taken into custody.

Osoria is a convicted felon that was wanted on two Violation of Probation warrants, as well as two local warrants for engaging officers in pursuit. Recovered in the vehicle was a loaded stolen revolver, as well as Marijuana, and a substance believed to be Fentanyl.

He was charged with two counts of a Weapon in a MV, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Interfering with Police, Larceny 6th degree, and Possession of Marijuana, Engaging Police in Pursuit and a host of motor vehicle charges. Osoria was held on bond and transported to New Haven Superior Court.
