K-9 Officer Carney and Arrow

This morning, 6/18/19 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Branford Police was investigating a serious one car motor vehicle crash in the 200 block of East Main Street. A witness saw the operator flee the scene on foot into the woods north of the area of the crash. A perimeter was setup and K-9 Officer Carney and K-9 Arrow responded to assist. After a short track, K-9 Officer Carney and K-9 Arrow located the driver at 4:23 a.m. bedded down in some very thick vegetation. The male individual surrendered and was detained by police without incident.

The operator was identified as Brian Spinato, 39, of Branford. Due to the seriousness of the crash and the injuries Spinato sustained while operating the vehicle, he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending for Spinato. It was determined no other occupants were involved in the crash.

Great job by K-9 Officer Carney, K-9 Arrow, and the Branford officers involved in the investigation.
