Branford Schools superintendent Halet Hernandez released the following statement regarding new guidance from the state on high school graduation:

Dear Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2020:

As you know, yesterday Governor Lamont announced new guidance for high school graduation ceremonies.  We are currently reviewing this guidance and determining the viability of incorporating it into a second graduation plan that would take place on August 3, 2020.  By exploring a second option we are able to provide students and their families choice.

The District acknowledges how emotionally difficult the entire planning process has been for you and your child.  Dealing with uncertainty is never easy.  We are committed to making this year’s graduation a safe, inclusive, and memorable event for everyone involved.  The District will continue to coordinate our Class of 2020 graduation plans with our local public health officials and police department.

Additional information will be forthcoming and we thank you for your support as we consider and plan for this year’s graduation ceremony.

Sincerely,

Hamlet M. Hernandez

Am absolutely delighted to hear that after jerking around students and parents for months, there is suddenly a change in thinking. This change came after the scheduling of the BLM protest on Sunday. So it takes a protest by an outside group to get Hernandez and his blind followers at the BOE to realize the stupidity of their premature decisions and actions. Yet this kinda stuff happens regularly so WTH is going on here?

First off, I hope all works out positively for the Class of 2020. You deserve it!

Regarding the latest episode of "How Not to Make a Decision", Superintendent Hernandez, once again, demonstrates how to take an issue and make it as dysfunctional and challenging as possible. Outstanding communication and a high degree of credibility should be high among the traits that someone at his level should be bringing to the table for the $210,000 + perks pay he receives annually from the town. Suffice to say, these aren't areas where he has ever exceeded basic expectations. With this episode simply being the most recent in a long line of examples to illustrate this point.

Funny how you express the need for credibility...do you exhibit this trait, or are you a hypocrite?

I thought with Krause out as Chair, Hammie would be gone by now. What is this clown still doing here?

Hamlet was re-newewd for one more year, then he was promised a very lucrative job for the union.

Guest

Doubt very much that this is btrue. The Union would want nothing to do nwith him. Not sure why the boe does, either.

Current Superintendent in New Haven makes 250k. As Interim Superintendent, she made 225k. Previous Superintendent in New Haven was making 240k. And that's New Haven were talking about, much bigger and small city.

And were paying almost as much for this fraud? He doesn't even have his PHD

phd = piled higher and deeper

Guest

NO "phd" to worry about from this Superintendent. He stated that he was going to finish up his PhD when he was hired. Ten years later, still no PhD lol. Methinks the General is too busy to worry about something so irrelevant as education

Hamlet condones other members of his staff to be uncertified, why not him.

As the highest paid town employee in the history of Branford, and its Superintendent, the standards need to be set in accordance with the persons level. While its tough to believe that Hernandez and his tired act are still here, he himself should abide by the standards that he sets for others.
