The 2019 Branford Jazz series kicks off Thursday, June 26 with the Dan Pugach Nonet, a 9-piece ensemble featuring original music.
The event kicks off at 6:30. Please note that a local ordinance states that no dogs or alcoholic beverages are allowed at the event.
The Dan Pugach Monet has already won two ASCAP Jazz Composer Awards, a prestigious residency at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington D.C. and a GRAMMY nomination for Best Arrangement, Instrument with Vocals, alongside vocalist Nicole Zuraitis, his wife, and past performer at the Branford Jazz Series.
Joining Dan and Nicole on stage include: David Smith on trumpet, Sam Blakeslee on trombone, Jen Hinkle (bass trombone), Andrew Gould (alto sax), Jeremy Powell (tenor sax), Andrew Hadro (baritone sax), Carmen Staff (piano), and Leo Sherman (bass).
“It means a lot to be back for the 2019 Branford Jazz Series after playing with Nicole(Zuraitis) in 2012,” said Pugach. “I love the appreciation Branford Jazz has for artists. It; is going to be a fun show.”
