So for your $25-$40 you get a lantern to send out into the water with some message on it, and then when it's over they go out and collect the lanterns to throw away? Am I missing something here or should I just spend the money on some Powerball tickets?

It's too bad that each water lantern doesn't have a pre-paid return post card attached....then let the lanterns wash out to sea, and find out where they wind up as the post cards arrive!

So if you are bored and have no life and some money to throw away...come on down losers!

After further review, Branford Rec or 375 or whatever isn't even running this lantern festival. (and that's a good thing). An outside company runs it. So they have about $5 of materials costs and the remaining $20-$35 per lantern is profit, except for the few bucks a few people will get paid to go get them out of the water. Hopefully not town workers. I want to see the person who is going to walk down there Sat night and fork over $40 to do this.

If this publication was worth anything it would post the news that the event was canceled by Branford Parks and Recreation and was postponed to June 13, 2020!
