This morning the board of directors of the Branford Alps Farmers Market, run by Walter and Martha McGuire, have announced that the Thursday evening summer market will be closing.

After two years of having a place to buy fresh, locally grown food in Branford, the market is now unfortunately coming to a close due to circumstances that are out of the board of directors control.

"With regret and sorrow, due to circumstances beyond our control, the board of directors of the Branford Alps Farmers Market has found it necessary to terminate the Thursday summer market at 17 Alps Road. The board will be supportive of any future effort to bring another market to Branford that aims to promote access to locally grown or raised products. Many thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm and participation in our local food vision over the past four years and feel free to contact Martha Maguire, the market manager, with your comments, questions, or suggestions." - Directly from the Branford Alps Farmers Market Facebook page.

We are very sorry to see the this wonderful market leave Branford, and will be missed by many when summertime comes around.

Walter and Martha thank you for taking the time and spending your own money to help the community. Hopefully there will be a alternative proposed before next season.
